Prices at a glance

Made by Marcus prices, cheapest first (CAD)

Ranked by current price. Because ice cream is priced by format rather than by flavour, a single scoop is the same price whether you pick a signature, a seasonal or a non-dairy sorbet.

About these prices. All figures are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are compiled from Made by Marcus's own site and publicly documented listings and reviews. Made by Marcus is a small-batch creamery with a rotating flavour board, so exact flavours change through the season and prices can vary slightly by location and over time. Price comparison

How Made by Marcus compares to other ice cream shops

Made by Marcus is a craft microcreamery, so it sits above soft-serve and franchise scoop chains on price but leans on small-batch, from-scratch flavours. Figures are approximate and mix Canadian and U.S. pricing, so read this as a style comparison rather than an exact currency match.

About Made by Marcus

A macaron kitchen's leftover egg yolks became a craft ice cream brand.

Made by Marcus started almost by accident. Founder Marcus Purtzki - trained in food science and nutrition - was running a kitchen making French-style macarons, which use only egg whites. Rather than waste the leftover yolks, he began churning them into tiny batches of ice cream. The creativity of the format took over, and the first Made by Marcus scoop shop opened on 17th Avenue SW in Calgary around 2016.

The approach is deliberately small-batch: locally sourced, grass-fed dairy, real purees and a rotating board of roughly 18 flavours that spans classic signatures, prairie-berry seasonals, brewery and coffee-roaster collaborations, and the occasional savoury experiment. The brand has since grown to several scoop shops across Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.

Non-dairy & dietary

Vegan, non-dairy and how to taste widely

Made by Marcus typically carries about three non-dairy options at a time, including fruit sorbets like the Blackberry Raspberry Sorbet made with Edmonton's Sea Change Brewery. Because the board rotates, the vegan builds change - ask the shop which non-dairy flavours are on that day.

If you want to try several flavours, the four-scoop flight ($10) is the most efficient order. Loyalty is rewarded too: buying scoops earns a free scoop after a set number.

Made-in-house with shared equipment. Confirm with the shop if you have a serious allergy.

  • Taste the most: Flight of 4 scoops - $10.00

  • Grab-and-go: Ice cream bar - about $5.00
  • Celebration: Made-to-order ice cream cake - about $40.00

Common questions

Made by Marcus menu - frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions people most commonly ask about Made by Marcus prices, flavours, non-dairy options and locations.

How much is a scoop of ice cream at Made by Marcus?

A single scoop is CAD $5.00 in a cup, or about $6.00 in a cake cone. Two scoops run roughly $7.00 in a cup and $8.00 in a cone, and a fresh-pressed waffle cone adds about $1.00. Every flavour on the board - signature, seasonal or non-dairy - is the same per-scoop price. All prices are in Canadian dollars.

What is the Made by Marcus ice cream flight?

The flight is $10.00 and is the best way to taste across the rotating line-up: four small scoops of your choosing served together on one plate. Because Made by Marcus changes its flavours seasonally and runs unusual builds, the flight lets you sample four at once instead of committing to a single scoop.

How many flavours does Made by Marcus have?

Made by Marcus keeps roughly 18 flavours available at a time, split between long-running signatures (like Tahitian Vanilla and Lemon Curd Blueberry), rotating seasonal specials, and about three non-dairy / vegan options. The full board changes through the year, so the exact line-up on any given day depends on the season and location.

Does Made by Marcus have vegan or non-dairy ice cream?

Yes. Made by Marcus typically carries about three non-dairy options alongside its dairy scoops, including fruit sorbets such as the Blackberry Raspberry Sorbet made in collaboration with Edmonton's Sea Change Brewery. Non-dairy flavours rotate, so ask the shop which vegan builds are on that day.

Where are Made by Marcus locations?

Made by Marcus operates scoop shops across Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta. Calgary locations include 17th Avenue SW (Beltline) and Kensington (19th Street NW); Edmonton is in Old Strathcona (82 Avenue NW). The brand runs several shops in total - check madebymarcus.ca for the current list and hours.

Who started Made by Marcus?

Made by Marcus was founded by Marcus Purtzki, who trained in food science and nutrition. The ice cream began almost by accident: his kitchen was making French-style macarons, which use egg whites, and he started turning the leftover egg yolks into small batches of ice cream so nothing went to waste. The first 17th Avenue SW shop in Calgary opened around 2016.

What is Made by Marcus best known for?

It's known for small-batch, from-scratch ice cream made with locally sourced, grass-fed dairy and a creative, seasonal flavour board. Signatures like Malted Chocolate Honeycomb, Lemon Curd Blueberry and Duchess Earl Grey & Raspberry Financier sit next to collaborations with local coffee roasters and breweries. The style is closer to a chef-driven microcreamery than a traditional scoop shop.

Does Made by Marcus sell ice cream cakes and bars?

Yes. Made by Marcus offers hand-dipped ice cream bars for about $5.00 and made-to-order ice cream cakes for about $40.00, both built from its own small-batch flavours. Most flavours can also be packed into a to-go pint to take home; pint pricing varies, so confirm it in shop.

Are Made by Marcus prices in Canadian dollars?

Yes - Made by Marcus is an Alberta, Canada brand, so all prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). A single scoop is CAD $5.00, a flight is CAD $10.00, bars are around CAD $5.00 and cakes around CAD $40.00. Prices can vary by location and change over time, so treat these as a current guide and confirm at the shop.
