About

About The Wolseley

The Wolseley opened in 2003 in a building on Piccadilly that was originally constructed in 1921 as a showroom for Wolseley Motors before becoming a Barclays Bank branch. Restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King transformed the soaring art deco interior — with its marble columns, iron chandeliers and double-height arched windows — into one of London's defining grand cafés, inspired by the great brasseries of Vienna and Paris.

The restaurant is celebrated for serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner seven days a week, making it one of the rare London institutions open from early morning into the late evening. Its menu is a love letter to central European café culture: kedgeree and devilled kidneys sit alongside Wiener schnitzel, steak tartare, and a full selection of pâtisseries. The Wolseley's afternoon tea became one of the city's most sought-after reservations within years of opening.

In 2023 the original Corbin & King partnership was restructured, and The Wolseley now operates under The Wolseley Hospitality Group. The Piccadilly original remains at the heart of the brand. Despite changes in ownership, the kitchen and front-of-house teams have maintained the rigorous standards and daily ritual that made the café an institution — a place where breakfast meetings, long lunches, and champagne afternoon teas all feel equally at home under one roof.
