About

About Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay was born from a single perfect Caribbean day. In 2010, the chain's founders landed on a beach in Barbados and stumbled upon Surfside — a wonderfully relaxed bar run by a host named Victor who kept them happily occupied from morning to night with bold food, easy conversation, and an unhurried island rhythm. That experience became the blueprint for everything Turtle Bay stands for: Caribbean Soul, fresh cooking, and genuine warmth at a price that doesn't require a special occasion.

The first Turtle Bay restaurant opened in the UK in 2010 and the chain has since grown to more than 50 locations across England, Scotland, and Wales, making it the country's largest Caribbean restaurant group. Unlike many casual chains, Turtle Bay cooks everything from scratch each day. Jerk marinades are built from scratch with scotch bonnet chillies, allspice, black pepper, and cinnamon; curries are slow-cooked; and the festivals (Caribbean dumplings) are fried fresh in every kitchen. The drinks programme is equally serious — Turtle Bay's 2-4-1 cocktail happy hour has become something of a British institution, drawing crowds who come as much for the Rum Punches and Mojito Royals as for the food.

Sustainability and community are part of the brand's DNA. Turtle Bay sources responsibly, celebrates Caribbean heritage through its décor and music programming, and supports Caribbean community charities. The restaurants are known for their vibrant, lively atmosphere — colourful interiors, reggae soundtracks, and the kind of energy that makes a Tuesday night feel like a Caribbean holiday weekend.
