Ordering tips

How to make the most of a Pizzeria Beddia visit

Best entry point

Start with the Tomato Pie ($5)

The cheapest item on the menu is also the most Philadelphia thing about it. A small tomato pie is a classic local snack — order it with wine while you wait for a full pizza.

Must-order plate

Get the Burrata ($21)

Consistently one of the most praised non-pizza dishes in any season. The combination of burrata, seasonal fruit, and cucumber is simple, fresh, and memorable.

Best pizza for anchovy lovers

Pizza #4 ($26)

No mozzarella — just tomato, Sicilian anchovy, garlic, and oregano. It is the most classically Italian pie on the menu and the best match for a glass of Albarino or light Italian red.

Customize only one

Add-ons are Pizza #1 only

If you want pepperoni ($5), sausage ($5), cremini mushrooms ($4), or greens ($3), they can only be added to Pizza #1. The other four pies are served as composed recipes.

Finish right

Soft serve + amaro ($6+)

The only dessert is soft serve in sweet cream or espresso. Adding an amaro shot turns it into a proper digestif moment. At $6, it is the best value on the menu.

About Pizzeria Beddia

Joe Beddia and the Philadelphia pizza that Bon Appetit called the best in America.

Joe Beddia opened his first pizzeria on Frankford Avenue in Fishtown, Philadelphia — a two-person operation so stripped-down it sold only pizza, no slices, no delivery, and required you to show up in person. In 2015, Bon Appetit called it the best pizza in America. Beddia subsequently wrote Pizza Camp (Abrams, 2017), a home-pizza cookbook that became a cult classic in food circles.

The current Pizzeria Beddia, at 1313 North Lee Street in Fishtown, opened with the backing of Defined Hospitality and expanded the original concept into a full-service restaurant: small plates, a serious natural wine list, cocktails, and soft serve alongside the organic-dough pies that built Beddia's reputation. The restaurant accepts reservations via Resy and takeout via Toast Tab. A private Hoagie Room and group Pizza Party format are available for special events.

The wine program deliberately favors natural producers, magnums, and bottles with character — including a Chardonnay made by Beddia himself in Oregon. The food program remains tightly seasonal: plates change with the market, and Pizza #5 rotates with available produce.
