What makes Pizza Nova different

Six things that distinguish Pizza Nova from other Canadian pizza chains.

Since 1963

Family-founded, family-run

Founded May 12, 1963 by four Italian immigrant brothers from Basilicata, Italy. Domenic Primucci (second generation) serves as president. One of Canada's oldest pizza chains, still independently owned.

Heritage item

Panzerotti

The fried dough pocket stuffed with tomato sauce and mozzarella has been on the menu since the 1960s. A Southern Italian street-food staple that most Canadian pizza chains don't carry.

27+ varieties

Specialty pizza depth

From the Honey Stinger (pepperoni, banana peppers, honey drizzle) to the Roasted Parma (prosciutto, arugula, balsamic reduction) -- the specialty range is broader and more Italian-focused than most chains.

35+ toppings

Gourmet topping selection

Over 35 toppings available for Create Your Own, including ingredients like anchovies, capers, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, and prosciutto -- not standard at most Canadian pizza chains.

Since 2021

Full plant-based lineup

Plant-based pepperoni, dairy-free mozzarella, Plantollini chicken bites, and dedicated plant-based specialty pizzas (Planteroni, Aloha Plant, and more) added in 2021 and expanded since.

Community

That's Amore campaign

The That's Amore Pizza for Kids campaign has raised more than CAN$2 million for children's causes. In 2023, marking its 60th anniversary, Pizza Nova donated CAN$1 million to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation.

About Pizza Nova

Ontario's original Italian pizza chain, since 1963.

Pizza Nova Take Out Ltd. was founded on May 12, 1963, in Dorset Park, Scarborough, Ontario by Italian immigrant brothers Sam, Mike, Vince, and Joe Primucci -- four young men from Palazzo San Gervasio in Basilicata, Italy. The original location on Kennedy Road near Lawrence Avenue East is still operating today, now as Nova Ristorante.

The chain entered franchising in 1969, established a centralized call centre in 1983 (one of the first in Canadian pizza), and became the official pizza supplier for the Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Centre in 2014. In 2013, Pizza Nova was featured on the Canadian edition of Undercover Boss. In 2023, on its 60th anniversary, it donated CAN$1 million to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation.

Today, with 150+ Ontario locations primarily in the Greater Toronto Area, Pizza Nova remains a privately held, family-run business -- one of Canada's longest-running pizza chains.
