About

About COYA

COYA was founded with a vision to bring the vibrancy of Lima's contemporary dining scene to London. Rooted in the ancient Peruvian tradition of ceviche and the Japanese-Peruvian fusion known as Nikkei, the restaurant celebrates bold, bright flavours built on citrus, chilli, and fresh seafood. The name nods to the Quechua word for a space of gathering and celebration, and that spirit infuses every element of the experience — from the pisco bar and live DJ sets to the art gallery installations.

The flagship City of London location at 31–33 Throgmorton Street opened as part of COYA's global expansion, joining the original Mayfair restaurant on Piccadilly. The group has since grown to encompass venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh, Barcelona, and Muscat, with seasonal summer residencies in Monaco, Ibiza, and Marbella. Each kitchen sources fish from certified FAO fishing zones and meat from France, the UK, Spain, Chile, and Italy, ensuring traceability across the menu.

Beyond the food, COYA has cultivated a reputation as a cultural destination. The restaurant's art programme brings rotating exhibitions of Latin American artists into the dining room, while the pisco bar — stocked with rare bottles and house-infused spirits — is regarded as one of London's finest cocktail destinations. The Discovery Menu at £95 per guest showcases the kitchen's most refined techniques across multiple courses, making COYA a benchmark for upscale Peruvian cooking in Europe.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What type of cuisine does COYA serve?

COYA serves contemporary Peruvian cuisine, drawing on both traditional Andean cooking techniques and the Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei fusion tradition. The menu centres on ceviches, tiraditos, wood-fired parilla grills, and hot cazuela dishes, supported by a pisco cocktail bar.

How much does a meal at COYA cost?

À la carte starters begin at £15 for the Smoked Shiitake Tacos and range up to £28 for the Bluefin Tuna Tiradito. Main courses from the parilla grill run £24–£55, while sharing cuts reach £110–£130. The Discovery Tasting Menu is priced at £95 per guest. Note that a discretionary 12.5% service charge is added to all bills, and all prices include VAT.

Does COYA have a tasting menu?

Yes. The Discovery Menu is COYA's signature tasting experience, priced at £95 per guest. It showcases a curated multi-course selection of the kitchen's finest dishes. Contact the restaurant to confirm the current composition and any seasonal variations.

Where are COYA restaurants located?

COYA has two permanent London locations — in the City of London at 31–33 Throgmorton Street, and in Mayfair at 118 Piccadilly. Internationally, COYA operates in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh, Barcelona, and Muscat, with seasonal summer residencies in Monaco, Ibiza, and Marbella.

Does COYA cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. The menu includes clearly marked vegetarian (V) and vegan (VG) options. Vegan choices include the Guacamole, Mango Ceviche, Corn Trio, Arroz Verde, and Garden Leaves Salad. Vegetarian options extend to the Smoked Shiitake Tacos, Burrata, Charred Aubergine, Churros, and several desserts.

Is COYA gluten free friendly?

Many dishes are marked gluten free (GF) on the menu, including most ceviches, several parilla mains, and the majority of desserts. Guests with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity should speak with staff before ordering, as the kitchen handles gluten-containing ingredients.

What is the dress code at COYA?

COYA operates a smart-casual to smart dress code. The restaurant has a vibrant, high-energy atmosphere, particularly in the evenings when the DJ plays. Guests are expected to dress appropriately; very casual attire such as sportswear or flip-flops is typically not permitted.

Can I book a private event at COYA?

Yes. COYA offers private dining and event spaces at both London locations, as well as bespoke group set menus. Enquiries can be made through the COYA website or via the Tripleseat event request form. The restaurant also provides a downloadable sales and events brochure for 2026.

What is the difference between a ceviche and a tiradito at COYA?

Both are Peruvian raw-fish preparations. A ceviche is cured in leche de tigre (tiger's milk — a citrus and chilli marinade) and typically includes chunky accompaniments such as sweet potato and choclo corn. A tiradito is sliced thinly like sashimi and dressed with a lighter, more delicate sauce; COYA's tiraditos draw on the Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei tradition, so you'll see flavours like daikon, tobiko, ponzu, and truffle.
