Brooks Sandwich House Menu & Prices 2026: Full List, Burgers & Best Value

Brooks Sandwich House has been serving Charlotte's NoDa neighborhood from a tiny cinder-block walk-up window since 1973. Founded by C.T. Brooks Jr., the spot is legendary for its burger "all the way" — a beef patty blanketed in house chili, mustard, onions, and cheese — and for hot dogs, livermush sandwiches, and Southern sides at prices that have barely budged with the neighborhood around them.

About

About Brooks Sandwich House

Brooks Sandwich House opened in March 1973 when C.T. Brooks Jr. built a modest 500-square-foot cinder-block shack on North Brevard Street in what was then a working-class mill village on the outskirts of Charlotte. The Johnston Mill down the road was still running, and the neighborhood bore little resemblance to the arts enclave — NoDa — it would later become. From the start, the draw was simple and immediate: fresh-ground beef patties pressed onto the griddle, a house-made chili ladled on top, and a bun that soaked it all in.

The restaurant passed to C.T.'s twin sons, David and Scott Brooks, who ran it together for decades. Scott was killed in an armed robbery in 2019 while opening the restaurant, a loss that stunned the Charlotte food community. David continued operating the landmark in his brother's memory, maintaining every recipe unchanged. By 2023 — fifty years in — David announced plans to retire and listed the property for sale, while hinting at a possible food truck continuation of the brand.

What keeps people lining up at the walk-up window, even as luxury condos now tower over the little block building, is the burger "all the way": a chili-drenched, mustard-slicked, onion-topped patty that columnist Tommy Tomlinson once called "the ultimate Charlotte taste." Livermush sandwiches, slaw dogs, fried bologna, and sub-$2 sweet teas round out a menu that has barely changed in half a century — and doesn't need to.
